Tomorrow we will venture out in the wee hours of the morning to Serendipity (http://www.caesarspalace.com/casinos/caesars-palace/restaurants-dining/serendipity-3-detail.html) to have one of their to die for belgium waffles – the link as a beautiful picture of what I will consume for breakfast – all 2000 calories of it. Then we will come back – pack our wares & head off to the airport. We’ll be flying Alaska Airways to Seattle for a small layover and then be in Beautiful Victoria around 7:30pm. Good time to find our rental car & Caddy’s Carriage House which we’ll be calling home for our duration. For the Coastal people it’s over by the Ross Bay Cemetary area.

I’ve made it down to the pool deck to lay in the heat for the last 2 days – survived 2 hours out there today as Chloe creeped me from the air conditioned hotel room. It was more of a rotational – lay in the sun, get into the pool to cool down, lay back in the sun, get into the pool to cool down – phew I wonder how people who live here stay white?? Oh yes there are some white people that live here – our tour guide was one of them.

Yesterday we went out on a Pink Jeep Tour (http://pinkjeeptours.com/las-vegas/) if you ever get a chance I recommend it…that is if you’re like me and come to visit for everything BUT gambling & booze. We took in the half day tour to Eldorado Canyon – our stop was the Techatticup Mine (http://www.legendsofamerica.com/nv-eldorado.html) which was fully operational from 1861-1942. After that it sat abandoned for 50 years!! Tony & Bobbie Werly came along and wanted to buy the land for a staging area for their canoe guided trips on the Mohave Lake. Two days before the land sale closed they were wandering around the land and came across cool air escaping from within a pile of tailings (it looks like hard potato soup – which was left over from the mining days). The opening was just large enough for Tony to crawl into – he crawled in about 50 feet before he could stand up and could see tunnels going in different directions….so they changed directions and decided to do mine tours. I seem to recall it took several years to clean out the section they do tours in as well as run lights, sprinklers (safety code) and get licenses, etc. but I tell ya – it was freaking cool to be in there. In all we toured about 500 feet of it and barely made a dent. Here is some interesting history of the mine (http://www.legendsofamerica.com/nv-eldorado.html) – there was not nearly enough time to get to look at all the cool stuff they have spread about the 51 acres of land but what we did see was COOL. Little gun shy about attaching a picture as I think that’s where I went wrong with the post that disappeared on me – so I’ll add one at the end. After the tour we went further down the road to Lake Mohave – which was once a very thriving Sea Port – as it accessed the Sea of Cortez. Our guide, Shanin, was awesome – he (yes he was a male – the second male Shannon I’ve met) answered all our questions and was very funny with little tidbits about the area & such.

Once back at the Hotel we ventured out for more shopping & people watching – then went to the Circque de Soleil show – Mystere (http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/mystere/tickets/las-vegas.aspx click on preview the show to see a small portion of what we witnessed) – its such an interested show that 2 hours goes by so quickly!! Chloe was amazed that they had a theatre of that size within the hotel – seating capacity 1671.

Tonight we are off to see Criss Angel (http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/believe/default.aspx) – and we are to watch closely during the motorcycle trick as Alison & Chris are wondering how it works….

Hopefully I can get this to post and keep you all updated!!

Cheers, Shannon

OK I can’t seem to get a picture uploaded today – save them for another time!!

Howdy Everyone!!
