MADE IT!!!
We are safe & sound and back to reality of everyday life – no more restaurant food, rental cars, or beautiful weather! Actually that’s a lie – it’s a nice warm no wind day here in Alberta – thank you weather gods! It may have been a harder pill to swallow if it had been a shitty day here – always hard coming home from Victoria – the scenery is simply easier on the eyes than the bare ass prairies. Oh I know what you Albertans are thinking we have beautiful scenery and I agree but not immediately where I live – no big mountains, lush green forest or blue ocean to look at.
Speaking of ocean – check out my prize possession – the best thing I have brought home (well technically not yet) from our holiday.
That’s right – a kick ass piece of drift wood. When we got off the Mill Bay ferry we stopped at the first pull out to walk along the ocean and there she was – coming in with the tide – only one wet foot away from being beached. Chloe, the loving daughter she is, did the stepping and pulled it in for me – then we had the task of shoving it into the Ford Fiesta I rented (bad choice – holy small car Batman!) but we did it and hauled it up to my Uncle Joe’s for safe keeping. He & my Mom are headed to Grande Prairie in September so it will arrive then – in between now & then I will walk around my yard and find its place of honor! Funny we were down on the Island last summer with our own pickup and found zero pieces….Murphy’s Law or what!! Next summer I’ll probably drive down so will need some spots where the drift wood is easier to find – any Islanders reading this I’m open to suggestions.
Happy to be home but as in usual Shannon style I am right back into being busy! Cooper has tutoring this week – next week is Swim camp – week after SPCA camp – and SWIMMING lessons for me!! My dear sister sent me a gift while I was away – a pair of cool swim goggles that she found work best – I’m really excited to start & successfully finish. I am hoping to use swimming as exercise this winter when the garden is laid to rest and I’m looking to burn some calories.
One last picture before I sign off and keep in the forward motion of tasks at hand today – my corn has erupted while I was away – some is 4-5 feet tall – amazing!!
Hope you are all happy & healthy!!
Cheers, Shannon
Hi! It worked, it must be magic. Your trip sounded wonderful and how you had time for all the blogging was nothing short of amazing. Yes we are headed to NY in September as Uncle Al is turning 70! Yikes! I have bought tickets for two Yankee games plus a gourmet buffet in the Audi Club, very posh. Just ordered tickets for The Statue of Liberty plus Ellis Island tour. The Statue of Liberty is closed for renovations but the ferry takes you for a look around. Glad to took a peice of drift wood there is so much on the beaches and no one uses it!
Nice to hear you organize your trip with prebooking sites you want to see & do – makes for a better trip I feel. I wasn’t sure if we’d get into trouble taking the driftwood so we acted like two thieves in the night – I was yelling at Chloe to move quicker so no one seen us!! Thanks for the comment :o)
